I mentioned the article below a couple of times in my journal; I wrote it when I was 14 and it was published a year later in The New York State Conservationist magazine. The illustration is by Wayne Trimm, who also edited the piece. I'm amazed they published it; I didn't have a typewriter so I wrote it out by hand. I submitted it with several of my own pencil sketches, which were too light to reproduce well. Reprinted with permission of the New York State Conservationist.
